charli + wesley in temple, tx

Dude. Charli is an enigma. She’s a smart, creative, assertive, beautiful, and she chose ME to photograph her wedding. OK NO PRESSURE. She was actually referred to me by a guest from my very first wedding. I will forever be thankful for referrals like this!

Charli and Wes are the picture of southern grace. It rained like a mother the day before and the day of their wedding. This meant very last minute decisions and ceremony location changes that they handled like champs. Their venue was perfect and the staff there was so helpful in managing every curveball that the day threw. They navigated a wicked sickness the whole morning of the wedding and still managed to show up and look gorgeous as ever. Charli’s maid of honor was even there first thing in the morning designing the stunning florals for the wedding.

Every guest at their wedding seemed like the most important person there to them. Everyone had such a great time and it was so apparent how much everyone loved the couple and one another. Every guest treated my second shooter Brittany and I like family and these folks even gave us a standing ovation on our way out! I tried to post it on my Instagram stories but of course that’s the one time it didn’t work! So, she and I will just have to remember it the whole school way and tell people all about it, embellishing a little more each time. Oh well ;)

I want all my clients to know this before their wedding: it is HIGHLY unlikely that everything will go 100% as planned. And that’s ok! Remember why you’re doing this. At the end of the day, this is about a MARRIAGE and not just a WEDDING. Your guests won’t notice if something is a smidge out of place or if you forgot to wear you veil. You won’t look back at your photos in 50 years with your grandkids and say “damn, that DJ forgot to play Love Shack!”

SO, trust the process, enjoy and day, and let me capture all that unexpected greatness.

marissa + pat in key west

HOLY EFFING CRAP.

Marissa and Pat flew me to Key West for a weekend to shoot their wedding and it was such an adventure! The DAY OF the wedding, I kayaked through mangroves with nurse sharks, took a helicopter around the island, then laid around the pool with a cocktail. After all of that amazing-ness, I got dressed and headed to The Southernmost Beach Resort to begin my “work-day.” We drank, we laughed, we took trolleys around the island, and these love birds said their nuptials at sunset under a huge palm at Fort Zachary Taylor State Park. It was perfection. Also, someone else please do this so I can repeat it!
